SUMMARY:Young Adult Parent Support Group
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to launch a new DSAWM support group for parents of Young Adults with Down syndrome. The group will meet on the 4th Thursday of each month in the DSAWM Conference Room. This gathering was formed with the intention of holding space for parents with similar experiences to share stories\, advice\, and gain peer support. We want this to be an informal\, comfortable space that anyone is welcome to join. Think of it more as a guided conversation and connection with other parents. Topics will vary based on open discussion\, but there will not be a set structure. Parents will meet on their own\, and one attendee can report back to our Community Outreach Manager\, Hazel. You can bring up any topic or issue that DSAWM may be able to help with. The hope is to have a safe environment for parents to talk and support one another! DESCRIPTION:Thursdays \n\n\n\n6:00pm-7:30pm \n\n\n\nAges 12+ \n\n\n\nCooking Capers is a program led by GVSU nutrition students to teach independence in the kitchen for members 12 and older (members 12-15 must have a guardian present). We work on goals and learn kitchen safety\, measurements\, and more! We cook a delicious 3 course meal each week and enjoy socializing with others.
