DESCRIPTION:DSAWM is looking to start a pickleball program on the Lakeshore! To help us gauge interest\, we are hosting a Pickleball Open House at the Holland Charter Township Community Center on April 25th from 4:30pm–7:00pm for members 8 years and older. This event will give participants and families a chance to check out the courts\, try pickleball in a fun and relaxed setting (no experience needed)\, and meet the coach. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and share interest in joining the program as we gauge participation. DESCRIPTION:Caregivers of individuals with Down syndrome are invited to this support group that meets on the fourth Monday of every month. The Aging with Down Syndrome Meetings are sponsored by DSAWM and Alzheimer’s Association. Participants share experiences and discuss the process of caring for loved ones growing older with Down syndrome. For this meeting\, Dementia Specialist\, Lois Thomas\, will be joining from the Dementia Institute. DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to once again partner with the Comprehensive Therapy Center (CTC) to offer free Therapeutic Play and Learn groups that focus on child led play in a supportive\, therapeutic environment. Children will have the opportunity to explore and learn through play\, while professionals such as Speech Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists provide guidance\, model strategies\, and support each child’s development as needed. DESCRIPTION:Grand Rapids Cooking Capers is a program led by GVSU nutrition students to teach independence in the kitchen for members 12 and older (members 12-15 must have a guardian present). We work on goals and learn kitchen safety\, measurements\, and more! We cook a delicious 3 course meal each week and enjoy socializing with others.
